The Department was started in the year 1984. We offer B.Sc, M.Sc, M.Phil and Ph.D in Mathematics. Different allied subjects are provided in B.Sc level. There are 13 members in the Department. 6 members are doctorates and 1 are pursuing Ph.D. 1 member has cleared SET.
To produce highly skilled Mathematicians with Critical thinking, Computational and Problem solving Skills.
To motivate students in Fundamental Research in Pure and Applied Mathematics
To motivate students to think logically and critically to solve Mathematical problems.
To apply Mathematical skills to real life problems.
To inculcate a thirst for lifelong learning among students and create an aptitude for it.
To encourage participation in Scientific Forums and Seminars.
To encourage the students to pursue higher studies or to get jobs that require a high degree of Mathematical Skills
UGC grants to the tune of Rs 7.2 lakhs was received for 2 minor Research Projects in Number theory during 2012-2014 by Dr.M.A.Gopalan and Dr.S.Vidhyalakshmi.
Staff members and research scholars publish papers in National and International Journals every year. Total number of papers published exceed 1500.
12 books in Number Theory were Published by 8 staff members.
The Department has conducted 10 Regional and National Level Seminars so far.
5 students have cleared Ph.D entrance exam and have joined Ph.D in 2021.
