THE SECRETARY’S MESSAGE

Shrimati Indira Gandhi College is part of a hoary tradition.
The College cherishes values, conventions, tradition and history.
Many venerable scholars, savants, saints and sages have visited

the campus where now the College stands. Etched in the memory
of the College is the visit of Mahatma Gandhi to Our Campus.

The most momentous event of this Semester was the releasing of
a Special Cover to commemorate that historic visit, as part of
the 150th Birth Anniversary of Gandhiji. The Cover was released by the

Senior Superintendent of Post Offices and Staff, in association with Shrimati
Indira Gandhi College.

The academic scene, this Semester, was galvanized by the official visits of
legal luminaries and academic stalwarts. It is with a sense of pride that I record

the participation of Hon'ble Thiru Justice Ramesh, High Court of Judicature at
Madras, as the Chief Guest of the PG Graduation Day Function. The other
dignitaries who honoured the College as Chief Guests, are Prof. N. Rajendran,

Vice Chancellor, Alagappa University, Karaikudi, for the UG Graduation Day and
Dr. S. Subbiah, former Vice-Chancellor, Alagappa University, Karaikudi for the
College Day.

The College had a colourful and vibrant Sports Day on 02.03.2019 and the

high point of the event was the participation of Shri K. Prabhu, District Sports &
Youth Welfare Officer, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, as the Chief
Guest and that of Dr. A. Palaniswamy, Sports Secretary and Prof. & Head, Dept. of

Physical Education, Bharathidasan University, as the Guest of Honour.

The NSS Special Camp held from 21.02.2019 at Allur and the Villages
abetting it, jointly organized by the College and the N.S.S. Bharathidasan
University, is of value because of the exposure the N.S.S. volunteers got to rural

life.

Great men are prompt about little matters. The Founder of the College,
Vidya Seva Ratnam K. Santhanam taught us the value of attention to details.

We have fond memories of this genial giant. The Founder's Day was celebrated on
03.02.2019 with Shri. Thotta. P.V. Ramanujam, President, Shrimati Indira Gandhi
College, as the Chief Guest. The Pushpaanjali held in memory of the visionary

Founder Secretary, marked the auspicious end of a memorable academic
semester.
